Lycanthro makes an electrifying version of Running Wild’s “Port Royal

The track was originally recorded for a tribute to the German band

Canadian power metal wolves Lycanthro are back with a new single in a good while. “Port Royal” got a passion-filled version for Wild Privateers: An Underground Tribute to Running Wild, released in 2021 by Burning Sun Records.

Unconsciously, the cover also shows some of the range of influences from which the Ottawa band draws. At the forefront is charismatic vocalist and guitarist James Delbridge – one of the most active musicians in the underground, especially for his Instagram lives with artists from the metal scene -, duly accompanied by Forest Duassult (guitar), Stew Everitt (bass) and Panos Andrikopoulos (drums).

The track was mixed and mastered by Jack Kosto from Seven Spires. The artwork for the single, in an obvious reference to the classic Running Wild, is made by Eren Ersoy.
