Record integrates the second part of the trilogy started in Vera Cruz
By Luiz Athayde
The iconic power metal artist Edu Falaschi has announced the release of his second solo album. Eldorado is the title of the second chapter of the trilogy started in the acclaimed Vera Cruz (2021), his previous record. It will be set in Mexico in its Aztec period, then under the rule of Spanish conquistador Hernán Cortez. Check out the synopsis below:
“1501 and the saga of Jorge continues… With the defeat of Nero’s Order of the Cross army during the final battle on the ‘Isla de Vera Cruz’ against Jorge, his indigenous allies and the Order of Christ army, their leader, the Black Bishop, orders his remaining ships to beat a retreat and return to Portugal. But during their return, with the fleet almost completely destroyed, the evil leader and his army are surprised by an unprecedented storm that diverts them from their final destination.
Taken to seas never before sailed by them, after the storm, a strange calm ensues. Almost lifeless, with their caravels completely destroyed, Black Bishop and part of his men wake up in a new world. An unknown land, under the curious and frightened eyes of those who were watching them from a distance.
The dense forest, the hissing of the snake, the song of the Quetzal and the roar of the Jaguar were to reveal the future of Bishop Negro, his plans, new alliances with the Spanish navigator Hernán Cortez, who in 1519, founded the first city of Mexico that curiously was named ‘Villa Rica de la Vera Cruz’.”
Given the new context, Falaschi’s upcoming work promises to maintain the more than assertive power metal formula – responsible for the resumption of his career – but bringing elements of Latin music, “from the pre-colonial period to modern Latin music, with songs in Spanish, native songs, rhythms, harmonies and melodies characteristic of a millennial culture of great cultural and artistic wealth,” as he revealed in a note.
The line-up is more in tune than ever, with the drummer Aquiles Priester, keyboardist Fabio Laguna, guitarists Diogo Mafra and Roberto Barros, and bassist Raphael Dafras.
