Track features cellist Tina Guo

Kamelot is back from a recent and successful Brazilian tour, but their offstage activities are still in full swing. The American band has shared the lyric video for the new song “Opus Of The Night (Ghost Requiem)”, part of The Awakening, their new album, scheduled to be released on March 17th through Napalm Records.
The track reveals one of the album’s guests, here having American cellist Tina Guo. Unlike the first appetizer, the modern “One More Flag In The Ground”, this one also shows Kamelot in its classic model. Or, expressive connections to the early days of the Roy Khan era.
Obviously, this is no work of chance. Guitarist and leader Thomas Youngblood commented, “This is an inspiring continuation of a story from 15 years ago. The resurrection and resolution of a dream that never came true and the healing impact that music has on the human heart and mind. No matter how affected they are.”
In other words, it follows up on a theme born on the 2007 album Ghost Opera. Vocalist and beyond integrated into the group for 11 years, Sweden’s Tommy Karevik explained:
“KAMELOT’s music has always conveyed the message of hope, light and a sense of resolution. This story is an excellent example of that. ‘Opus of the Night’ honors the band’s traditional melodic and dark sound while bringing some new and exciting elements to the table.”
The 13th studio album from the band formed in Tampa, Florida, in the class of 1991, features production signed by longtime producer Sascha Paeth (Angra, Shaman, Rhapsody, After Forever), and mixing and mastering by Jacob Hansen (Pyramaze, Volbeat, Anubis Gate) at Hansen Studios.
