Progressive power metal band prepares to release its new album, ‘Espresso Della Vita: Lunare‘
By Luiz Athayde
The prog metal (and other stuff) lineup Maestrick has launched a crowdfunding campaign for the recording of two music videos. Or rather, “Os”. The chosen director is Leo Liberti, known for his work with big names such as Megadeth, Dee Snider, Europe, Creedence, and Nazareth.
The productions will be part of the promotional activities for the band’s new album, Espresso Della Vita: Lunare, scheduled to hit physical and digital stations in the second half of 2023.
“This will be the band’s most mature album and will bring a new version of Maestrick, stronger, more robust and equally creative, as in the first releases,” says vocalist, pianist, composer and founder Fabio Caldeira in the video below.
He also makes a point to reassure the most fervent fans: “Calm down, don’t worry. When I say, ‘a new version of Maestrick’, it doesn’t mean that we have changed our essence. We are still the Maestrick you fell in love with in the beginning.”
Unlike what is usually done in this type of campaign, the group, which also includes Renato Montanha (bass), Heitor Matos (drums) and Guilherme Henrique (guitar) has prepared a series of prizes according to the amount donated.
There are no less than 11 categories, with prizes ranging from listening to the album in advance, in the ‘Quota 1’, to the promotion of the supporter’s brand during 1 year; in events, social networks, and live performances, through the ‘Ultima Tricker Package’.
Espresso Della Vita: Lunare will mark the full record number 3 in the discography of the brigade formed in São José do Rio Preto, São Paulo, in the class of 2004. This will be the second part of the story that chronicles the observation of human life from the perspective of a train trip, started in Espresso Della Vita: Solare (2018). Just as the title reveals, the songs on the upcoming record are discoursed at night.
In this off-season, the rio-pretenses still released the EP Maestrickmas, where they go through all their sonic phases. In addition to having united the useful to the pleasant; to give the fans a gift and gain time until the album comes out.
“We have dedicated almost a decade of hard work, effort, and independent investment to this project. We don’t have any big company sponsoring us, so everything has always had to be done on the fly. Out of love,” they comment.
“We went through a worldwide pandemic, many difficulties and challenges, but we never gave up working on this project. Even if it was just a few minutes a day, a drum recording here, an idea on the vocal there, there was always, always something new happening these last few years. And you know what motivated us to keep going? You!”
Known for being one of the most musically diverse phalanxes of Brazilian metal, Maestrick has always worked independently, striving for quality over quantity. And the sound melting pot includes power metal, progressive rock, world music and Brazilian music, which they insert in a unique way. The consequence of this was works released in Brazil, Germany and Japan, along with presentations in national and international stages.
